Maruti Suzuki will announce prices for the much-awaited Jimny on June 7. Aimed at buyers who are looking for a lifestyle SUV, the Jimny is Maruti Suzuki’s fourth new SUV launch in the Indian market within a year.
- Jimny bookings are currently around the 30,000 mark
- First 1,000 units already built
- Deliveries to begin by mid-June
Maruti Jimny 5-door: bookings, production, delivery schedule
Bookings for the Jimny started when it made its debut in January and Maruti says it is already sitting on an order book of 30,000 units, which will be delivered through its Nexa chain of outlets. Series production commenced earlier this month and Maruti has confirmed that it has built over 1,000 units of the SUV already and is in the process of dispatching them to the dealers. A quick check with the dealers suggests that the first set of deliveries for the Jimny could commence by mid-June once registration and other formalities are completed.
Maruti Jimny 5-door: 50-50 split between manual and automatic
Maruti has introduced the Jimny in the market with only a petrol-automatic or a petrol-manual powertrain option with standard AllGrip 4WD. Interestingly, Maruti has also confirmed that bookings are almost evenly split between manual and automatic gearbox-equipped models.
Moreover, as we reported recently, Maruti will not introduce a 2WD variant of the Jimny.
