The Duster will make its India comeback in the second half of 2025.

Renault has taken the wraps of the all-new Duster SUV. The Duster was showcased late last year as a Dacia product and its Renault-badged counterpart gets slight styling tweaks, as can be seen in these official pictures.

  2. Expected to come to India late next year
  3. Nissan derivative of the Duster to follow

Renault Duster: what’s different?

There aren’t many differences, however, the Renault Duster does get slightly different looks. First up, the front grille has proper Renault lettering instead of the traditional logo seen on the outgoing Duster and other Renault products. This grille replaces the one with the Dacia logo seen on the that version of the SUV.

All Dacia logos have been replaced by Renault lettering across the SUV, and on the inside too, where it takes centre-stage on the steering wheel boss. Additionally, the interior also gets slight tweaks in terms of upholstery shades and material.

New Renault Duster: platform, dimensions, design

The new Renault Duster sits on the CMF-B platform that underpins multiple Dacia, Renault and Nissan models. It continues with its butch looks that give it a rugged, off-roader appeal. It does come with quite a few design cues seen on the Dacia Bigster concept too. At 4.34 metres long, the new Renault Duster is a shade longer than the outgoing model, but looks more aggressive. There will be a seven-seat version as well, that will see the light of day a little later.  At 2,657mm, the Duster has a slightly shorter wheelbase than the outgoing model.

The Renault Duster gets the same slim Y-shaped LED Daytime Running Lamps, vertical air vents in the bumper with circular fog light units and a large lower grille area that takes the shape of a flattened bull-bar as the Dacia model. The 18-inch alloy wheels get a simpler design, and the Renault logo. At the back, the sharp, Y-shaped tail-lights, the tailgate design and the rear bumper are the same as the Dacia Duster.

The double layer dashboard is the same too, but the finishing and upholstery is unique for the Renault version. The centre console is angled slightly towards the driver. Higher variants will get two digital screens – a 7.0-inch one for driver information and a 10.1-inch touchscreen for infotainment duties. While the screen sizes are same for the Dacia and Renault Duster, the SUVs will get unique fonts and colour themes for the infotainment menus.

Features that are common between both Duster SUVs include wireless charging and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, automatic climate control, and an Arkamys 3D sound system with six speakers. The SUVs also get ADAS technology including automatic emergency braking; vehicle, pedestrian, cyclist and motorcycle detection; traffic sign recognition with speeding alert; rear parking assistant; lane change warning and assist; and more.

New Renault Duster: powertrain details

While there is no news on the engine options expected on the Duster, one can expect the same three set of engines on offer as the Dacia version, two of which are electrified. Starting the proceedings is the 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol-hybrid that gets two electric motors. This engine comes with an automatic gearbox. It also comes with regenerative braking and a 1.2kWh battery, enabling purely electric driving for up to 80 percent of the time in the city.

The next engine is the 130hp, 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol coupled with a 48V starter motor. While the Duster will also come with a 1.0-litre petrol-LPG option in some markets, there is no diesel option in any market for now.

New Renault Duster: off-road gear

The Duster gets terrain modes that include Auto, Snow, Mud/Sand, Off-road and Eco. The SUV has  217mm of ground clearance, and has an approach angle of 31 degrees upfront and a departure angle of 36 degrees at the back.
