All manufacturers reported a decline in monthly sales numbers in June.

Sales numbers for the six giants in the Indian two-wheeler arena are out and here’s how each OEM fared. 

Hero MotoCorp: 4,22,757 units

As ever, Hero continues to lead the way in the market, despite registering a 13.6 percent decline over its sales figures for May 2023 (4,89,336 units). Even when compared to it’s own numbers for June 2022 (4,84,867), Hero reported a drop of 12.8 percent. 

Hero will be distributing the Harley-Davidson X440, which it has co-developed with the American marque, going forward in the country. 

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India(HMSI): 3,02,756 units

Compared to the May 2023 tally of 3,11,144 units, HMSI reported a slight decline of 2.7 percent in June 2023. The same downward trend continues when you compare Honda’s June 2023 numbers to its June 2022 numbers (3,55,560 units), with a 14.8 percent decrease reported. 

Honda has been steadily updating its model lineup to meet the stricter OBD-2 norms and has updated the Dio and Unicorn this past month. 

TVS Motor Company: 2,35,833 units

TVS too reported a decline in its monthly sales numbers, down 6.7 percent from its May 2023 numbers (2,52,690 units). However, the Hosur-based manufacturer reported an 22.1 percent increase when compared to its sales numbers for June 2022 (1,93,090 units).

Bajaj Auto: 1,66,292 units

Much like TVS, Bajaj reported a 14.6 percent decline when compared to its May 2023 numbers (1,94,811 units), but had a 32.9 percent increase when compared to its June 2022 numbers (1,25,083 units). 

Triumph is set to launch the all-new Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X later today, which are both built in India by Bajaj. 

Royal Enfield: 67,495 units

Royal Enfield, too, reported a 4.6 percent slump compared to its May 2023 sales figures (70,795 units). However, the Chennai-based marque reported a 34.3 percent increase when compared to its June 2022 sales figures (50,265 units).

Suzuki: 63,095 units

While we dont have an accurate May 2023 sales number for Suzuki, the company reported a 19.2 percent increase when compared to its June 2022 sales numbers (52,929 units).

The Suzuki V-Strom 800DE has been spied testing in India and it stands to reason that the company will launch it here in the coming months, since the bike has been spotted with a saree guard.
